About Us

About Osterly

We keep the catalog small so you don't have to sort through it.

Osterly is a small home, play and outdoor shop built on one stubborn idea: fewer things, chosen properly, described honestly.

How this started

In 2021 we spent an entire weekend trying to buy one decent cat bed.

What we found instead were forty near-identical listings, all with the same photo, all with descriptions written by someone who had clearly never touched the product. Half of them didn't say what size it was. None of them said what it was made of. We bought one anyway. It arrived flat, in a bag, smelling of a factory.

That was the whole problem in one purchase — not that good things don't exist, but that finding them means wading through a catalog nobody curated. So we started Osterly to do the wading ourselves.

A short list you can trust beats an endless one you can't.

What we actually do

Four things, and we try to do them properly rather than doing forty things badly.

We choose, we don't scrape

Every product on this site was picked by a person who looked at the specs, the reviews and the supplier before it went live. Nothing lands here automatically.

We write our own descriptions

Sizes in inches and centimetres. Materials named. What's in the box, spelled out. If something is cardboard, we say cardboard.

We price it once

One fair price, held steady. No inflated "was" figures, no countdown timers, no discount that quietly reappears every weekend.

We answer our own email

Support goes to the same small team that chose the products. You won't be handed to a script that repeats the tracking page back at you.

How a product earns a place here

Most of what we look at doesn't make it. Here's the filter.

  1. Does anyone actually want this?We start with what people are already searching for, not with what a supplier is pushing this month.
  2. Is it genuinely better than the obvious alternative? If the version already on every other site is fine, we skip it. A shelf full of near-identical options helps nobody.
  3. Can we describe it honestly and still want to sell it?This one kills more products than the rest combined. If the truthful description makes it sound mediocre, it is mediocre.
  4. Will the supply hold up?We check stock depth and shipping reliability before listing. A great product that takes nine weeks to arrive is not a great product.

What you'll find

Our range sits across four rooms of the house and one long walk outside it: pets, kids and play, home textiles and sleep, and outdoor and everyday carry. They look unrelated on a spreadsheet. They're not — they're all things you use constantly and only think about when they're bad.

  • Pet beds & comfort
  • Montessori & wooden toys
  • Silk & bedding
  • Sleep & wellness
  • Outdoor & camping
  • Everyday carry

The team

Osterly is run by a small team — small enough that the person who chose your product is plausibly the person who replies when you write in. We're not trying to become a marketplace. The moment this catalog gets big enough that we stop knowing what's in it, we've become the thing we started this to avoid.

A note on honesty. We'd rather tell you a product ships in two weeks and have you decide, than promise two days and apologise later. If we ever get that wrong, tell us — it's the feedback we act on fastest.

Questions before you buy?

Sizing, materials, delivery times, whether a thing will actually fit your cat — ask. We answer everything.
